Chanting for Inner Balance- June session

Chant is an ancient tool used across cultures to calm the mind and attune the body to a more supportive and harmonious vibrational frequency. Sanskrit, the mother tongue of Greek and Latin, has survived over 8,000 years because it is so adept at positively influencing the energetic pathways of the body. No prior singing or chant experience is required. Chants are taught call and response in the ancient way with words and translations provided. Persons of all faiths and beliefs are welcomed in celebrating nature's universal principles and archetypes through community and song.

Class will end with 10 minutes of breath meditation to help you absorb the fruits of your vibrational journey.

June Extended Practice

The physical postures of yoga, known as asana, are powerful and centering, creating many benefits to those who practice regularly in both mind and body. But did you know they are only 1/8th of the story? There are many more tools available that offer profound results to those who wish to learn them. Come experience and deepen your understanding of the other 7 limbs of yoga through our new extended practices!

Class will involve our typical 75 minutes of asana, followed by 45 minutes of pranayama (breath work), mantra practice, and prompts for self-reflection and meditation. Additionally, excerpts from the yoga sutras, an ancient text that contains mystical and practical wisdom on yoga's 8 limbs, may be incorporated to deepen self-reflection and intention for practice. This class offers the opportunity to go beyond asana and launch oneself into a deeper relationship with the body, breath, mind, and the higher self.

June Sound Bath

Zia Sunseri will perform a sound-ceremony-experience: a unique "soundbath": a live improvised concert of ambient sound vibrations that shift the listener’s body and consciousness into deep relaxation and restorative biological states, offering a mini-retreat from the busy outside world. Many people attend soundbaths to reduce the effects of stress and clear tension or blockages in the mind/body/emotions/spirit, in order to feel cleansed and replenished. Zia's soundbaths currently include crystal bowls and vocal toning, and sometimes additionally: gentle and potent sea-drums, gongs, rattles, or other ambient instruments, to take you into a meditative state to help creative and pleasurable experiences open up, and fundamentally, to help anxiety and stress fade and our bodies' natural restorative functions to flourish.

Core Breath Experiential Workshop

Within the demands of everyday life, it is easy to feel disconnected from our core vitality and a sense of groundedness. We are complex physical, emotional and energetic beings, and within us are molecules of emotion that flow and sometimes gather to form blockages. These blockages can lead to chronic tension, physical pain and mental anxiety that may also trigger patterns of behavior and thinking. Core Breath is an experiential workshop that weaves the integration of mindful breath awareness and intention within a process of discovering what may be root causes within patterns of body and mind.

Grounded in the Four Foundations Mindfulness, Mindfulness of Body, Sensation, Thoughts, and Internal Awareness, participants will be guided through different ways of using their breath to tap into the subtle body of emotions, energy, contraction and expansion. In the workshop, we will look into the anatomy of the body, and direct breath to help better articulate expression and voice. Elements of yoga, principles of Butoh, Core Energetics, and intentional improvisations will be woven through the workshop experience. Together, we will mine aspects of the human experience through movement, stillness, and meditation as a mode of reflection into deeper consciousness and inner vibrancy.

Yoga Nidra is a method of guided relaxation that has a profound effect on the body, mind, and emotions. During the practice, you will lie in a comfortable position where you can remain awake and relaxed. You will be guided through various stages of deeper relaxation as you focus your attention inward.

During Yoga Nidra, you will enter the state between wakefulness and dreaming - a state which we usually only experience as we nod off to sleep. The effect on the mind can be very powerful, because as the mind becomes more relaxed, it also becomes more receptive.

This practice can aid in memory retention, reduce stress, and enhance both your intuition and creativity. It can help you to solve problems, rejuvenate your body and mind, and enhance and balance your energy.
