Whole Life Yoga

depth in asana

The "internal" adventures class!

This is an in-depth exploration of the elements required to deepen yoga postures. We will focus on breath, precision in form, and how to maximize energy without excess effort. By integrating movement through the whole body to support the spine, we decrease strain and the possibility of injury while we practice. Learn how to work more deeply by understanding the role of gravity, how to "recycle" energy as you fatigue, and from where, precisely, to generate specific movements.

You will gain a greater understanding of the spine and sacrum through lecture and discussion that includes some anatomy and physiology. You will deepen your awareness of how to practice "from the inside out", how to use your internal state to generate movement and support the posture. This is a chance to "drop in", deconstruct the poses, have your questions answered. We will have a warming practice and explore different postures.

Bring your student-curious mind, your compassion and focus. This class will be both fun and serious; definitely interactive. For experienced students and yoga teachers.
